The term "caterpillar" comes from the chain's resemblance to a caterpillar's segmented body, while "cat chain" is simply a shortened version. "Dog chain" refers to the drive dogs incorporated into the chain, which are essential for its operation.
CamelConvey provides X348, X458, and X678 caterpillar drive chains in stock with the following standard lengths:
● X-348 Caterpillar Chain: 10 ft long with 10 dogs on 12" centers；
● X-348 Caterpillar Chain: 10 ft long with 20 dogs on 6" centers
● X-458 Caterpillar Chain: 10 ft long with 15 dogs on 8" centers
● X-678 Caterpillar Chain: 10 ft long with 10 dogs on 12" centers
We can also customize the number of drive dogs and chain lengths according to customer requirements. All drive chains are based on high-quality 160 roller chains, with drive dogs forged in one piece and fully hardened. The pins are secured with cotter pins, allowing for easy replacement of chain links or drive dogs.
