Electrocoating (E-coat finishing) and plating are essential metal finishing processes that fall under the broad category of electrophoretic deposition (EPD). EPD encompasses techniques like cathodic electrodeposition, anodic electrodeposition (anodizing), and electrophoretic coating and painting. These methods utilize electrical currents to deposit paint, adhering to the principle that opposites attract. Any particles capable of forming a stable suspension and carrying an electrical charge, such as polymers, pigments, dyes, ceramics, and metals, can be used in EPD.
