Precision Casting Products
Lost-wax casting, also known as investment casting, precision casting, or cire perdue, is a process that creates a duplicate sculpture, often in metals such as silver, gold, brass, or bronze, from an original model. This technique, one of the oldest known methods of metal forming, dates back over 6,000 years, yet it remains widely used in industries such as jewelry, dentistry, and art. In its industrial form, investment casting is a popular method for producing precision metal parts in engineering and manufacturing.
For industries that require mass-produced metal parts with high dimensional accuracy, casting continues to be a cost-effective and highly efficient manufacturing process, creating critical components for aerospace, automotive, and medical applications.
Traditionally, patterns for direct investment casting — the industrial form of lost-wax casting — were carved by hand or machined when mass production wasn't necessary. However, with the advent of 3D printing, engineers and foundries can now directly create patterns, reducing lead times and offering greater design flexibility that surpasses the constraints imposed by molding processes in design for manufacturability (DFM).
